Francesc Alegre: La primera guerra púnica, 1472. Estudi i edició crítica
Pere Bescós Prat
Translation in the Fifteenth century provides a third way in Latin or Greek translation based in ad sententiam method, i.e., the translation of its meaning, alternative to two medieval modi, which are ad verbum or literal translation, and translation ad sensum, following the sense. The translation of the meaning includes the historical understanding and his formal aspect, the style, hermeneutical principles to their correct understanding. A first stage of this modern conception of translation occurs in the corrections of previous translations, like F. Alegre’s Ovid's Metamorphoseos, influenced by L. Bruni and Neoplatonic poetics. In La primera guerra púnica, translated from Italian, the civis of Barcelona don’t applies in these innovations and remains within the binomial verbum-sensum by the schoolar and initiatory nature of this exercice.
